Description

The Himalayan Imperial Black is an extremely high-quality and intense black tea from southeastern Nepal. Nepal is still a young tea-growing region and, for us, a region on the rise: the Nepalese are driven to create a tea culture all of their own – not just a copy of the famous Darjeeling teas. The Imperial Black is wonderful after a meal or whenever you are craving something sweet.

Taste

The Imperial Black is probably one of the most unusual black teas we have ever come across. Dry, it smells of cocoa beans and forest berries – and once you pour water over it, things really get going. It tastes as if the leaves had been freshly picked in a chocolate wonderland, without even a hint of bitterness. A symphony for black tea lovers and everyone who wants to become one.

Origin

This tea comes from the Jun Chiyabari tea garden in southeastern Nepal. Founded in 2000, and therefore still very young, the tea garden produces top-quality teas right next to the Indian border and the famous Darjeeling tea region. One thing that makes Jun Chiyabari really special is its love of experimenting: teas like the Imperial Black or our Hand Rolled Himalayan Tips are quite unusual for the Himalayan region.

  • Origin: Southeastern Nepal
  • Tea garden: Jun Chiyabari
  • Caffeine: high

Preparation

Like most black teas, let the Himalayan Imperial Black steep for 2–3 minutes, using 6 g of tea leaves and 500 ml of boiling water. Warm up your cup and teapot beforehand so the tea doesn’t cool down too quickly.
