Green Rooibos Tea Natural

If you find oxidized rooibos too strong, our Green Rooibos Tea Natural is the perfect tea for you. Unlike classic rooibos, no oxidation is set in motion here – so the tea stays green and fresh. Like every rooibos, it contains no caffeine and also significantly fewer tannins than green and black tea.

Taste

Green rooibos tastes mild and refreshing. Notes of freshly cut grass pair with a light, floral flavor.

This tea is often compared to green tea. The name suggests it, but we find that this South African has a character all its own: it's much milder and less bitter than most green teas, and it doesn't come from the same plant either. The best way is to discover the differences yourself!

Origin

Our Green Rooibos Natural comes from the west of South Africa and is grown on the beautiful plains of the Cederberg Mountains in the Western Cape province – a renowned region for this type of tea. Rooibos is grown almost exclusively in South Africa and is popular all over the world. It's South Africa's national drink and is widely enjoyed in its home country, too.

Right after harvest, the plant is broken into small pieces and withered. Steam stops the oxidation, after which the tea is rolled and dried. This way it keeps its original green color.

Preparation

For the best aroma, let the tea steep at 60 °C for 5 minutes. Green rooibos contains hardly any bitter compounds, so it can also handle high temperatures and long steeping times:

• Stronger: pour boiling water over it and let it steep for 5–10 minutes
• Rooibos espresso: let it simmer over a low flame for 10–20 minutes, then strain and enjoy
